I actually took a couple naps this weekend, which was a nice change of pace for once. We were still somewhat busy, but managed to at least find some downtime.
I made red velvet cupcakes on Saturday - tried one recipe that used more cocoa powder, and butter instead of vegetable oil. I think the cake itself turned out pretty well, although I think I overcooked it by a couple minutes. I topped them with cream cheese icing, which was pretty good. Marc really liked them, but I didn't think they were quite up to Sprinkles' level, so I might play around with the recipes a bit.
Marc and I also went around and looked at bedroom furniture. We finally found a set that seems to suit our needs perfectly - it has a dresser/media chest that is exactly what we were looking for to go below the TV.
I took one of my aforementioned naps that afternoon, and in the evening we went with my brothers to see District 9. I really enjoyed it - I thought it was suspenseful and thrilling, and pretty entertaining, but Marc didn't like it that much.
Sunday morning I had a doctor's appointment for my first monitoring sonogram and blood test. Everything looked good - had about 17 growing follicles plus a bunch of little ones. Then we drove up with Steve to SF to visit Marc's cousin in the hospital. Afterwards, Steve dropped us off near Union Square, and Marc and I did a little shopping. I got some clothes and we both got new pairs of shoes. There was a pair of Gucci boots I really liked which were on sale, but sadly they were still $399 (!).
We stayed in the city for a couple of hours, and then rode BART back home. I called up Elaine (she lives right by BART) and she was nice enough to give us a ride back to our house.
I took a short nap, and we watched Madagascar 2 after dinner. Funny, but kind of oddball for an animated movie. Then it was a little more TV, a few chores, and then bed.

Aww, too bad I wasn't in SF last weekend.
