Marc was out of town this weekend (he had to go to Vancouver to take care of some things for his grandmother), but I was pretty much never by my lonesome self thanks to my friends, who were nice enough to hang out with me.
I had dinner with Elaine on Friday - we went out for sushi, and ate a lot. Elaine kept picking all these things, and I was like, "Are you sure we can eat that much?" We ordered like two big rolls, a sashimi combination, and unadon (big bowl of rice with a large piece of unagi on top - yum). And two glasses of sake. The total bill came out to $85 for just the two of us, lol. But we ATE IT ALL.
We hung out at her place afterwards and watched the "Glee" pilot, which I'd only seen parts of. I really like this show so far - will DVR it for sure.
Saturday morning I got woken up at 6:30 am by the loudest thunder ever. I'd left the bedroom window open that night because it was so hot, and when I woke up it was overcast, raining, and thundering like crazy. Even when I lived in Jersey I don't think I can remember ever hearing thunder that was so loud. It literally sounded like a couple of big rigs crashing outside my window.
I just lay in bed listening to it - at one point there was a lightning strike, and I could actually hear static crackling around the bedroom. The DVR reset, but none of the clocks did. Our next door neighbors said that the lights and ceiling fan in their bedroom turned on! I think it must have sparked something, because shortly after about five fire trucks went roaring down Dublin Blvd.
The pets were a little freaked too - every time the thunder would clap, I could hear the cats scurry around. And poor Bandit. He climbed up into bed with me, and lay there, his paws gripping my arm, chin on his paws, shaking like a leaf. So I just laid there in bed and listened to the rain and thunder for an hour, cuddling my poor scared boy.
It was actually kind of a cool Saturday morning, early as it was.
When I did finally get out of bed, it was still early, but I went and cleaned up the house and baked some cupcakes. I showered, then left the house at around 11 to go to the BART station to head up to the Cal game. I met up with Kenny, Cynthia and Steve, and the four of us got up there nice and early, did some shopping and had Fat Slice for lunch.
It rained a bit while we were up there, but stopped before kickoff. The game was great, but a blowout, as expected. Cynthia took BART to Dublin with me, and we met up with Vicki for dinner. Deepali joined us afterwards, and the four of us got some boba tea, and then went to Blockbuster to rent a movie. We were looking for a "chick flick" and ended up going with a classic that none of us had ever seen - Beaches.
It was good, although I didn't cry, and I usually do with that kind of stuff, and everyone says you cry with this movie. Oh well. Our evening felt over all too soon, but it was nice to hang out with the girls and just get my mind off things for a little bit. Just a nice Saturday overall.
I went down to Fremont on Sunday to meet up with my family for dim sum. Leslie had just gotten back from a volunteer trip to Thailand. He had a really great time - he helped out at an orphanage, and did things like changing diapers, which I thought was pretty hilarious. The babies had a tiny little TV in their room, and Leslie went out and donated a nice new LCD TV - he had a cute picture of one of the kids watching a cartoon with a baby Daffy Duck.
He also helped with planting some trees, and got to ride elephants to the river to bathe them. Pretty cool.
After lunch I went home and relaxed until Marc got back late in the afternoon from the airport.
So the weekend was great. Today, not so much as I'm just stressed out at work already (and wondering why), and all the other crap is getting me down. I feel like I'm just wound so tight right now, and Marc and I are both stressed to the max. The nice thing is that we're going on vacation this weekend to Seattle, so hopefully we'll be able to get our minds off of things for a bit.
Alright, I could blab on, but it's time for bed.

Enjoy Seattle!
