So, just to get the bad news out of the way (again) - IVF #3 was a failure. Things were looking good at day 3 this time, but after the biopsy, most of the embryos just didn't do well. Either our embryos don't hold up well to manipulation, or maybe it's their laboratory technique, I don't know. Could be a combination of both, as they don't seem to have this much trouble with their other PGD cases.
So our doctor is looking into trying to do a biopsy on day 5 instead, where the embryos will be at a point where they might be more robust, and the biopsy won't be removing as high a percentage of cells. If the genetics lab says they can do it, then it's probably what we'll try.
Ugh, it's hard to believe we've been at this almost a year now. I can't even begin to describe how incredibly frustrating and depressing it's been.
We did manage to have a nice Thanksgiving though. Marc and I bought and cooked the turkey and brought it down to my parents' house. We put it in a plastic bag, then put it in a thermal bag, and finally into a large styrofoam box (from one of my previous fish tank orders). It stayed nice and hot! We also brought a ham and rolls, and everyone else took care of the side dishes.
Marc and I went looking for a Christmas tree over the weekend, but didn't really see any that we liked, so we're going to try again this weekend. We'll probably set up the outside decorations too.
Sunday night I went with Cynthia and Elaine to the Kelly Clarkson concert, which was awesome. I think it was even better than the concert Marc and I went to two years ago (although that one was super cool because we had third row seats).
The weekend before was fun too - we had a girls' night at our house on Saturday (Marc hung out in our bedroom). Deepali, one of my best friends since high school, moved to New York just this past weekend for work (we're hoping she won't be there forever!). So a bunch of us girls got together just to hang out - built a fire in the fireplace and ate a bunch of snacks. :) Then we had a nice brunch with everyone on Sunday.
Other than that, I've just been working and trying to lose weight again. I went running with a coworker yesterday, and it was painful. Running is definitely not my strong suit. I think I did okay though. We'll see if I can keep it up. I need to lose like ten pounds! And that's being conservative! I'd like to at least lose some of it before we start the next round of IVF.
Marc did cheer me up the other day by buying me Band Hero for the XBox. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I probably will tonight. It's just like Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour, but it has mostly pop songs. I also finished Modern Warfare 2 last night - I think the single player campaign only took about 5 hours to finish. Too short. The gameplay was awesome though.
So, now I'm roughly caught up. I know I have pictures and all this other stuff to catch up on, most of which will probably just have to wait until the holidays. I get two weeks off this year, which is sweet.
