Almost Done

I'm working on my last project at work this week - it's keeping me super busy. After this though, I'll be pretty much done with actual science-related work. Then it's clean, clean, clean.

We haven't been up to a whole lot lately. Deepali was in town over the weekend, so a bunch of us got together for dinner Sunday night. Marc and I went over to Cynthia and Steve's house beforehand and played a board game called Ticket to Ride. Pretty fun game, and got us thinking that we should try to play more games like that instead of being online or on the XBox all the time, haha.

We rented a couple of movies over the weekend too. Watched Julie & Julia, which I really liked, and The Taking of Pelham 123, which I thought was okay. I thought Meryl Streep was great as Julia Child (and that was definitely the more interesting half of the movie).

I've had a couple of weird dreams this past week. In the first one, I was living in some sort of post-apocalyptic world. Marc was with me, as was Bandit, and we were with a group of fellow survivors. In the group was Marian, a friend from high school, and someone who looked and sounded like my cousin Connie but was some homeless girl. We were traveling with a pack of dogs too, which strangely enough included my first dog, Betsy, as well as Benji (from the movies) and two German Shepherds.

We ended up hiding out in a house because there were all sorts of demons that were wandering around, and we had this notion that if we stayed outside, we were eventually going to burn up (by what, I don't know). While we were hiding out, one of the projects we were working on was writing down my basal body temperature (which, by the way, seems to have become more normal now) on three identical shirts. I have no idea what, if anything, any of this means, by the way.

A couple of guys in our group were getting restless and decided to head out and keep moving on. I begged them not to go, but eventually all of them left, including the dogs, except for Bandit, who stayed behind with Marc and I.

The house we were staying in was apparently some sort of houseboat, because Marc then went out back and started feeding the fish in the lake/ocean. Bandit came out and suddenly went nuts, diving in after the food and trashing and growling. I had to pull him out by his hind legs. As I was dragging the dog back inside, I told Marc that he should make sure to feed the birds too.

When I got back inside, I discovered that Betsy, Benji and the rest of the dogs had returned! Marian and a couple of other people (I think one was a coworker) had also come back. I don't know what happened next, because that's when I woke up.

Last night I had another dream, where I was hanging out with my brothers and my cousin Mark (and I presume Henry too, but I don't remember actually seeing him). Mark had also sent me an e-mail where he acknowledged that I was fat. We were hanging out in a house that was ours, but it didn't look like our house. It was actually kind of a cool house - I dream a lot about interesting houses that aren't mine.

I invited a few people over to play poker. Cynthia was there, as were a few of my X-Files buddies - the ones I went to Vegas with - Allegra and Holly (Cheri couldn't make it). We played a few hands when I went to the garage to get something, then got totally distracted by this giant fold-out poster that had a picture of a cell on it, and all the different science jobs related to the different parts of the cell.

I was out there for a long while when I finally remembered my poker game. I started to head back to the table when I realized that I wasn't wearing any pants, and that while it might be more comfortable to sit around in my underwear, it probably wouldn't look too classy, so I went back to my room and got a pair of pants. On my way back, I grabbed a chair so that it would look like I had been busy doing something productive while I was gone.

Unfortunately, by the time I got back, they were finishing up the game, and my friends were leaving. I went outside to check something, and realized too late that my friends had left and I hadn't said goodbye. I chided myself for being a bad hostess, and then Marc woke me up.

What do all my weird dreams mean? I have no clue, but they're kind of entertaining.

Did Marc make you write these dreams out instead of telling him. ;)

Hee! So vivid!

Thanks for having dinner with me! It feels weird to think that I am "visiting" when I come home.

We love Ticket to Ride! And your dreams are definitely interesting. :)
