I just got word yesterday that they might ask me to stay at work past the end of March (should I so desire). Apparently there's a ton of work left to do, and the people who were originally slated to stay to do it have decided to leave.
First question I have is, of course, why are those people not staying? I will definitely be finding out this reason, lol. I know the work that needs to get done isn't all that fun, but maybe it's actually terrible. I don't know.
So on the one hand, it means another month or two of paychecks and medical insurance. On the other hand, I am SO READY TO BE DONE. This has to be the longest layoff in the history of layoffs. If I take the extension, it will have been nearly 2 years since the original announcement came. There are things I want to do, dammit!
It's not a for sure thing though, and I don't think I'll find out until early March. I'm definitely getting my 60 day notice next Monday, so at least I have the option to leave at the end of March if I want to.
So we watched Paranormal Activity over the weekend, and I think I'm done with scary movies. I just can't watch them anymore. Most of the time I end up not even watching the screen. I thought the movie was creepy, but I also found myself intensely frustrated at the characters. I do have to say that their portrayal of a couple was pretty good, at least in terms of male-female dynamics. The girl would be getting frustrated with her boyfriend, and I could TOTALLY SEE WHY. But it totally bothered me that they never closed their bedroom door, even when they were scared shitless. I know it probably wouldn't make a difference, but really, my first instinct would just be to sleep with the door closed. Also, I'm convinced none of that would have happened if they had a dog, haha.
We hung out at Cynthia and Steve's on Saturday - had lunch with them (Cynthia cooked!) and watched 500 Days of Summer, which was okay. I thought it was a little slow, and a big part of the problem was that I just didn't find Zooey Deschanel's character all that appealing, and her supposedly otherworldly appeal was the whole basis for the movie.
My brothers came over to hang out that night at our place, and on Sunday Marc and I mostly just watched football. For once, the two teams I wanted to lose, lost. I like New Orleans as a team though, so I'm glad to see them go to the Super Bowl. This weekend is the Pro Bowl - Aaron Rodgers to Desean Jackson!

hmm...i noticed that you didn't mention if the lunch was good or not. =) i don't think i'll be making that dish anymore...took forever! i think i'll be sticking with stews and curries from now on...where you put everything in a pot and "set and forget".
Oh lol, no Marc and I both thought it was good! I'll try not to forget to give props in the future. ;)
