Thursday got off to an inauspicious start when I spilled coffee on my white shirt while driving in to work. I had an annoying headache for most of the day, was getting annoyed and frustrated with cleaning and my coworkers, and then came home to find that our female clownfish, the one we've had for nearly 5 years, had died. I'd done a massive water change the night before, and I think it may have stressed her out. The one nice thing about Thursday was that it was my mom's 60th birthday. We dropped off some flowers for her on our way home from work.
Friday was a better day, although I did find out that one of my coworkers had decided to request a release at the end of the month. With my boss leaving for a new job at the end of the month, that leaves pretty much me to do all the remaining cleaning next month. I'm a little annoyed that I'm kind of left holding the bag, but what can you do.
I spent my morning today making a strawberry whipped cream cake for my mom's birthday. I've never tried this recipe before, and it was actually a little more involved than I expected, but not too bad overall. It looks pretty good - I'm hoping it tastes good too.
We're going to a place called the Boiling Crab for her birthday dinner tonight. I'm looking forward to it, but poor Marc isn't going to have much to eat. One of these days I'll turn him into a seafood lover. ;)
I have some thoughts on Tuesday's episode of "LOST," but I'll have to get to that later.
Ooh, how was boiling crab? I've heard lots of good stuff about it, aside from the long lines. And how'd the cake turn out? Looks good!
We ended up not actually eating there - turns out it's a pretty small restaurant, and at 3:30pm the wait was going to be TWO HOURS!
So my parents got the food to go and we ate at home - it wasn't bad, the dungeness crab was pretty tasty. The crawfish was okay, and I didn't eat the shrimp but everyone else said it wasn't the freshest. Also, mild is pretty spicy!
The cake turned out pretty well, although it was a tad lopsided. :) But taste-wise I thought it was yummy.
