Happy Birthday, B!

It's Bandit's birthday today! He turns 7, which is just crazy. I still remember the days when he was this goofball adolescent puppy with ears and feet that were too big, and the most raunchy gas on earth.

Today he still LOVES toys and anything plush he pretty much assumes is his, and though he's getting gray in the face, he still acts just like he did when he was younger. I love that when he comes in from the rain, he knows to walk in slowly and sit on the towel by the door so that he can get dried off. I love how he'll sit and stare at you for pets, and if he doesn't get it, he'll cock his head to the side and put his chin on your lap to try to look cute and get your attention. I love that the first thing he does when he gets in the house is to run and come find me. I love that he can be running full speed somewhere, but if there's a speck of food like 10 feet away, he'll stop and turn on a dime and go get it. Gah, I could go on and on. I love my boy! So happy birthday, Mr. B!

I ended up spending most of Saturday baking and decorating cupcakes. We were going to babysit Jacob, Allison and Jennifer that night, so I thought it might be fun to make some to bring over. My Martha Stewart cupcake book had some super cute ones in there that I wanted to try. They turned out pretty well! It took so long to do, but I was really happy with them.

We took the kids out to dinner, which was fun. They're always super easy to babysit. We went to Max's, where the kids get free ice cream after dinner, with all these toppings they can put on them. Jennifer had these raisinettes in hers - she was grabbing the candy toppings with her fingers, and she stuck a raisinette in her mouth, licked it, and then held it out to me like, "you want?" I did not, but it was hilarious and cute.

The kids got crayons and paper to draw on, and Marc teased them that the person who drew the best picture would avoid having to pay for dinner. So Allison drew a picture of Marc and captioned it, "Uncle Marc is Awesome," and on the back she wrote, "ROCK ON!" So funny.

We rented G-Force and watched it before they had to go to bed. Kind of a cute, funny movie.

Sunday we pretty much did nothing. We spent most of the day watching the USA-Canada hockey game, which was about one of the best games I've ever seen, in spite of the outcome. I was going to go pull some weeds, but then discovered that I don't have a pair of gardening gloves, which tells you just how much yard work I do.

Last night I started working on another baking project (for Bandit's birthday and mine). It's all stuff I've never tried before, so I don't know how it's going to turn out. So far I'm happy, but I've only finished one part of it.

We also watched "LOST" of course. Very happy to see that Corrie has started to watch it, welcome to the madness! Spoilers ahead for last night's ep, so don't read any further if you haven't seen it.

I'm usually pretty meh on Sayid eps these days. I used to love the character - he was never one of my favorites, but I loved how he was such a badass. Lately though, I dunno, he seems so irredeemable. And while it seems like he carries a lot of guilt, he still seems unrepentant to me. Maybe I'm reading him all wrong, I don't know.

So I wasn't too interested in his sideways story, although Nadia being married to Omer was quite the twist. I loved seeing Keamy again, and Jin in the freezer was a surprise. Curious to know what that's all about.

Ilana and Frank and crew busting in to rescue Miles at the temple was pretty cool. And I've never seen Ben look as scared as he did when he saw what Sayid had done. And Kate, well she just kind of followed along with Claire and Sayid and Flocke, didn't she? I wasn't sure what to make of his expression when Flocke saw her. He seemed surprised? Irritated? That last scene when they were all marching out of the temple and the music was overlaid with Claire singing, "Catch a Falling Star" had to be one of the eeriest sequences I've seen on this show. Just freaky!

Next week is a Ben ep, so I am super excited.

Those cupcakes look amazing! What are the ladybugs made out of?

After we watched the Lost pilot, Steve was itching for another free night to watch more episodes. "I want to know what the deal is with the polar bear." I was like, "Uh, sorry to break it to you, but even people who are watching the current season don't have many of their questions answered!"

Awww. this made me teary. Happy Birthday Bandit!

Man, Bonz, totally in awe of your awesome cupcake abilities!

Hehe, thanks! The ladybugs are made out of marzipan. I learned it's kind of a pricey way to go, but the stuff was easy to work with (easier than gum paste, I'm finding).

Steve is going to have wait a while for that polar bear answer, lol. Heck, even when you do get an answer, it's hard to be sure that's the actual answer!
