It seems like lately I've had a hard time fitting in time to blog during my day. Not sure why, as I'm not really that busy, but it might be because Marc and I don't carpool as much lately, so once I'm done for the day I usually go home, instead of killing time at my desk. Marc is super busy these days, so I may just have to do what I'm doing now - write while I'm waiting for him to come home.
Found out one upside to my staying until the end of May is that I now qualify for a raise (I wasn't going to get one if I left in March, because I would've missed the cutoff). So my raise should carry over into my severance as well as my retention bonus, which will be pretty sweet.
Had a nice weekend - Lockheed had their annual company event at Great America (they rent out the whole park), so Marc and I spent half the day there. I think I'm getting old though, because after I rode Top Gun, I felt like HELL. Every muscle in my body just ached, it was awful.
We went to play one of the carnival games, and the guy running the stand was clearly on his first day ever on the job. It was this super hard game where you had to bounce a whiffle ball off an easel into a small basket below it (the angle was so steep that you'd essentially have to avoid having the whiffle ball bounce at all). The prizes were all these huge stuffed animals, but they had these bears that looked even bigger, so we asked the guy if you had to do something else to win them. He pointed to these mini pool tables (one was a foosball table) that were sitting between the easels and said, "Uh yeah, I think you have to get the ball to land on one of these tables."
We had three balls, and Marc and I each tried to bounce one into the basket with no luck. So Marc took the third one, and tossed it at the foosball table. The ball landed right on the table and stayed there. Seemed way too easy, and it turns out it was, because the guy went to go get his manager, and we found out that the tables were just for decoration. LOL. So we got to try again for the basket, and of course didn't make it. But it was kind of funny how clueless that poor guy was.
I drove up to the city on Sunday for Leslie's bachelorette party (well, the second half of it - I had to skip out on the party bus part of it the night before). We had lunch in Japantown, and then went to Kabuki Spa for massages.
I've been working on some cake projects for a couple ex-coworkers as well. One is a basset-hound themed cake that isn't needed until May, but I'm working on the decorations now to make sure I can actually pull it off. So far, so good, and I'm having fun!
