Work has been quite busy this week, which is why I haven't been updating at all. Things are probably going to be a bit crazy next month as I try to get everything wrapped up before I leave. I need to start packing up my office!
April 2010 Archives
I'm sitting in bed right now, trying to blog from my iPad. Typing on this thing isn't too bad so far, especially when I have it in landscape mode. Anyways, I've been stuck in bed all day, as I had my retrieval bright and early this morning.
Got the call that I get to go ahead and trigger tonight, hooray. So that means I'll be going in for my retrieval on Sunday (no day off of work, boo). I'm not complaining though - I'm more than ready to be done with my shots!
Went in for my blood draw this morning, and hooray! the new girl wasn't working today. Some guy (that I wasn't familiar with) was there, and he managed to hit my vein on the first stick. For once, a blood draw that didn't take 15 minutes. Magnificent!
I had taken two vacation days this weekend (Friday and Monday), but I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation, because I am exhausted today!
I had acupuncture and massage yesterday afternoon, and left feeling quite relaxed. Until I got in the car. As soon as I hit traffic on 580E and had to deal with all the assholes driving on it, my state of relaxation evaporated.
I had The. Absolute. Worst. Blood draw this morning. There's a new girl working in the lab now, and she did okay when I was there last time, but this time it was hell. I don't have easy veins, but my right arm is usually pretty reliable. I've had more blood draws than I can count, and that arm has rarely been a problem. She stuck me with the needle, and of course didn't get it. Then she started searching for the vein, moving the needle around and ohmigod it hurt so bad.
Things have been pretty busy lately! We're still fostering the mom and babies, who seem to be doing well, although mom is still scared, and has resorted to hissing and spitting when I'm in the room, which is lovely.
We're going to Houston for my cousin's wedding in two weeks, and I need to get a new dress for it. I went to the mall to look, but didn't find much, so I looked online at Macy's and Nordstrom (does anyone have suggestions for where else to find dresses?). I found one at Macy's that I liked, and one at Nordstrom.
Literally, I'm working my fingers off. I'm helping to clear out a bunch of cell lines we have stored in liquid nitrogen tanks, and when I'm handling vials, even though I'm wearing gloves, I manage to get a nasty burn now and then. It sneaks up on you, too. I'll feel nothing at all, and then suddenly, my finger tips feel like they just got singed. So we have to be careful not to hold anything for too long.
